Cruise vacations are growing in popularity and the shipbuilding boom continues with 42 cruise ship on order by 2012.
Le Havre, world heritage site since 2005, has the ambition to become a turnaround port on the Northern Atlantic itinerary.
The port of Le Havre can accommodate any type of cruise ships : ocean cruises, and river cruises as well as niche cruises, cargo cruises,yachts and ferries.

In 2009, 70 ocean cruise ships are expected to call in the port of Le Havre. Almost 90 000 passengers and 40000 crew members disembarked at Florida pier.
Since 2005, river cruise companies have been developing new itineraries on the Seine river. 2 companies make regular stops in Le Havre (6000 additional). |

With its first-class technical facilities matching with the ISPS safety and security standards, the port of Le Havre is one of the safest in the world. It can accommodate the largest ships round the clock, throughout the year.
Within fifteen years, the number of passengers calling in Le Havre, has increased fivefold. The Cruise Welcome Centre offers a full range of services to cruise passengers and crew members with new amenities in the short term. Le Havre’s goal is to assert itself as a turnaround port. |

Thanks to Auguste Perret, a modern urban planner, and his innovative exploitation of the potential of concrete, Le Havre is now the only site in Europe Which Has been acknowledge by the Unesco for its cultural heritage dating from the second half of the 20th century. The classification as a World Heritage site in 2005 has shed a new light on the city : Le Havre has become a destination for anyone.
Le Havre, the cradle of impressionism, holds in its fine arts museum André Malraux, the most important collection of impressionist masterpieces in France after the Orsay Museum in Paris.
These are some out of many aspects for choosing Le Havre as a port of call, besides well known attractions that Normandy has to offer : Etretat, Honfleur, Deauville, the landing beaches and, of course, Paris. A call in Le Havre has become a must on the North Atlantic-itinerary. |
