This year, to celebrate on the one hand the third year anniversary of Le Havre as a World Heritage site and on the other hand the fifty year anniversary of the unveiling of City hall "Porte Océane" presents a big show:
« Le Havre, lights on the heritage »
Unesco recognized the architectural quality of Le Havre. Two figurehead buildings of the modern era, conceived by two Masters of architecture of the 20th century, Auguste Perret and Oscar Niemeyer, will serve as the basis of a large show conceived and brought to you by Skertzo. The majestic front side of City Hall (92 metres) and its 72 metres high tower will be the screen reflecting the 1950’s whereas the curves of Le Volcan will reflect a dream-like journey. Through transformation, screened images, the magic of trompe-l’oeil and the music, noises and words, Skertzo transcends the perception of architecture.
This show allows the inhabitants of Le Havre to cast a new look at their city and every day environment, and allows the visitors to tour the city, known for its modern architecture, in a new and different way. The organisers will play the part of story tellers, allowing the public to discover the secrets, legends and real or imaginary stories about the monuments of the city.
The show is free and takes place every day at night fall from 14 June to 21 September 2008 on Place de l’Hôtel de Ville and at the Forum of Oscar Niemeyer.
